Description of the Project:
Slavery didn’t end in 1862. It just got a makeover. Human trafficking is its modern form, and involves the commercial exploitation of humans, including forced prostitution and pornography. Nearly 21 million people are currently enslaved throughout the world, many of them minors who were kidnapped and forced to leave their childhoods behind. And Florida is one of the states with the most crimes. Thick layers of makeup and alluring hairstyles make these children look old enough for sexual activities with adults. In our piece, we show a scary transformation, where makeup turns an innocent 12 years old girl into an appealing prey, accompanied by the dark, ethereal sounds of the Scala Choir & Kolacny Brothers' take on the famous song "Creep" by Radiohead.
